Manchester has one of the oldest and largest Chinese communities in the UK, with a large corner of the city, China Town, dedicated to Chinese culture and food. We wanted to bring the famous celebrations of this great city to the suburbs, welcoming in the Year of the Pig with the lovely people of Altrincham. The traditions of this special holiday mean a lot to us at WowYauChow and we wanted to share an insight in to the Chinese culture and celebrate with the community.
Over the Chinese New Year period we had a range of activities taking place in our Altrincham branch from prize giveaways to Chinese tea tasting.
On Wednesday 6th February we kicked off the Chinese New Year celebrations with a huge food giveaway, offering complimentary lunch to the Altrincham community between 12-1pm. We were amazed with the response we received as over the 60 minute time slot we welcomed 221 people through the doors and dished out over 300 meals.
It gave us a great opportunity to meet the people of Altrincham and gave them a taster of the restaurant’s popular dishes including Chicken Hot & Spicy, Beef Rice Bowl and our Salt & Pepper Tofu Rice Bowl.
The tasty freebie was a huge hit with the locals and a great success for the WowYauChow team. A massive thank you to everyone who attended and celebrated the start of the New year with us.
